Jan 6th

I can’t believe how quickly I’ve lost weight. I’m almost at my ideal size. I got a timetable of classes available at my gym and wrote out my own schedule of the classes I could do and put it on my fridge. I did one to two classes a day (apart from New Year’s Eve because the gym was shut). I also walked my dog every day, which helped. I’ve never done any aerobics classes before and always thought people who do them look completely hilarious, but I really enjoyed them! They were great. I did one called Body Attack. The instructor said if you stick at it you can lose 900 calories per class. It was a great workout and the moves were actually quite fun. I’m going to calm down with the amount of classes I do now - I’ve lost most of the weight, I’m just going to make sure I don’t stop going to the gym and eating so badly like I did over Christmas. I’m going to write a new timetable that I can stick to as well. Don’t let this make you feel guilty for not going to the gym as much as this – it’s part of my job. My neighbour Leanne has just started a new fitness regime. She’s a solicitor so works long hours and doesn’t have time to go to the gym that much. She’s started cycling to work and back and goes to the gym on a Saturday. Doing a bit of exercise in the morning gives you a lift for the day. Exercising releases endorphins, which make you feel happy. Getting fit and feeling happy, what more can you ask for?

I’m sorry it’s been so long since I’ve written but I would have had to just lie if I wrote anything because I have done nothing worth writing about in terms of health, diet and fitness!! The Christmas season got to me and I overdosed on mince pies, chocolates and parties. I’ve put on so much weight! In real life it looks fine but as a model under lights I don’t look good at all! I had December off so I hadn’t realised the weight I’d put on. I’d completely stopped going to the gym and it wasn’t until Christmas Eve that I realised how bad it had got! I was doing my last minute shopping in Selfridges when I got side tracked and ended looking for clothes for myself in the sale. I was in a changing room trying some stuff on and couldn’t believe my reflection. It must have had something to do with the lighting (well that’s what I was telling myself!) but I have never seen me look so Shrek-like. I’ve never suffered from cellulite so I was shocked to see so many lumps and bumps. Aaaaaaaargh! Nightmare! That’s it now, no more wine - gin and slimline tonic from now on. I’m not going to go on a strict diet because I love my food too much. I’m just going to try and eat more healthily, cut down on the naughty things and go to the gym every day. I have a shoot on the 7th January so I’ve not got much time. I don’t normally do many cardio classes at the gym, I usually just do Pilates, yoga or body pump but I’m going to do a cardio class every day now until the 7th. I’ve even cancelled New Year’s Eve this year as I can’t afford to have a two-day hangover!

Is it just me or is anyone else really excited for Christmas? I hope it snows. I’m probably so excited because we keep being deprived of a summer so all we’ve got to look forward to in a seasonal sense is Christmas. I got some Ugg ear muffs for my birthday the other week. I love going on winter walks all wrapped up, feeling festive, stopping at a country pub with a roaring fire and drinking mulled wine! I’m such a granny sometimes! The cold windy air does play havoc with your skin though so make sure you apply a really moisturising body lotion every day, and don’t forget your lip balm. There’s nothing less attractive than crusty lips!

I’ve bought some Kerastase tablets that supposedly help make your hair gorgeous and thicker and at £25 a pack they had better bloody work! I got them from Selfridges but you can get them cheaper online, they’re called Kerastase Nutrients Densitive. You get 60 tablets but have to take two a day for at least three months, which means you need three packs! I’ll let you know if they work. It is true though that the best way to improve the condition of your hair, and skin, is from within. If you find it hard to eat a good diet maybe a supplement like Kerastase Nutrients is for you.

I’m back now and although I’m absolutely knackered and could sleep for a week, I had an absolutely amazing time. The guys were great and seeing their faces all light up when we arrived to take pictures with them and sign photos was great. On top of that I learnt so much about how the army works. It’s pretty amazing actually! I couldn’t believe they actually had a Pizza Hut, Subway and Burger King on camp! The best part (being an animal lover) had to be meeting the army dogs. Did you know they even have a swimming pool for them for when they get too hot in the summer? I could tell you soooo much more but this blog is about health, beauty and fitness and not the army so back to the mascara, miracle pills and Spanx, eh? Talking of Spanx, I thought they were something that just grannies wear, but I’ve recently heard a load of young girls talking about how great they are, including some models. Fancy that! I’m gonna buy myself a pair for those nights that start with a three-course meal in a restaurant, and try and beat the pizza bulge! There was a picture of Kim out of Girls Aloud wearing a pair that come halfway down your thighs. I think I’ll get the thong version to avoid that kind of embarrassment. She actually denied in an interview wearing them and said they were tights she’d cut. Why on earth would you wear tights cut halfway down your thigh?? Us girls should just admit sometimes that we need a little help. We’re all comfortable with wearing make-up to enhance our looks, so why not use underwear in the same way?

I’m off to Afghanistan tomorrow. Everyone I’ve told has said, ‘What you going there for?’ I give them another minute to work it out! I’m hardly going on an 18-30s weekend! I’m going to support our troops and boost morale. I’m really excited but at the same time a little anxious. I’m going with four other Page 3 girls who are all pretty scared, my main concern is what food I’ll be eating! Everyone who knows me knows how obsessive I am with my food, and rations just don’t meet my standards, ha. It’s only for four days so I’m sure I’ll cope but I’ve packed 4 Pot Noodles and some Tabasco sauce, just in case. I love my Tabasco sauce! You’ve gotta have a bit of spice in your life! I’ll let you know how I get on when I’m back.
