I’m feeling a lot better today and have actually managed to get up and go and walk the dog. I still feel queasy and have a chesty cough but at least I’m no longer bed-bound. I’m going to try and take Echinacea every day now to keep my immune system strong and prevent this from happening again. I’ve just been browsing the web looking for companies that do semi-permanent makeup. My Mum has very light eyebrows and has to use a pencil every day to make them more visible. She wanted to get them tattooed on so I said I’d pay for it for her birthday. One of the Sun Page 3 girls has just had hers done and they look great! The only problem is the price. Eyebrows cost around £300-500. If you can afford it I’d definitely recommend it though! Check out http://www.permanent-makeup.com/ for some before and after pictures.
I’ve been struck down by the dreaded flu. I was hoping it was just a cold but it’s definitely the flu, I can’t get out of bed and even having the light on hurts my head! This is the fourth day in bed now and I still don’t feel much better. I’ve got so much to do at the moment! This is such an inconvenience. Watch out guys, there’s a lot of it about right now!
I’ve recently started to take a hobby of mine more seriously, DJing. I love it and I’ve now got myself an agent. I had my first set in a club last night. It was wicked but reeeeally scary! It’s so much different in a club than in your bedroom. I had a practice run in my local bar the week before and I’ve never shaken so much in my life. Even my legs were going! Last night I was using Rescue Remedy. You can buy it from any chemist or store such as boots or Superdrug for about £5. It’s completely natural and is suitable for anyone. It helps calm you down in stressful or emotional situations. You just put four drops on your tongue whenever you need it. I was using it all night before my set yesterday and it really worked. People said they would never have known it was my first time because I seemed so relaxed. If you’d seen me shaking the week before you would never have believed it. I’m going to carry it with me everywhere now, even on shoots and for castings etc.
I bought myself a new toothbrush the other day and it’s just arrived in the post. It’s a Phillips Sonicare Healthy White Deluxe. I’ve used Phillips Sonicare toothbrushes for years now and love them. People always ask if I’ve had my teeth whitened, which I haven’t, and I’m sure it’s down to my Sonicare toothbrush. The reason I first bought one was because my friend in school bought one and I couldn’t believe the difference in her teeth. They were so much whiter! I’ve never looked back since buying my first one. This new one has different settings - normal clean, sensitive and whiten and clean. Once you press the on button it stays on for exactly 2 minutes and pulses every 30 seconds telling you to move to a different part of your mouth and allows you to clean your whole mouth evenly. The four parts of your mouth to clean are the front of the teeth at the top, the inside of the teeth at the top, the front of the teeth at the bottom and the inside of the teeth at the bottom. With the white mode you get an extra 30 seconds at the end of stronger pulses to clean the teeth that are visible when you smile. If you don’t already have an electric toothbrush I would definitely recommend getting one. I paid £67.49 for my new one, which is pretty cheap as the RRP is £100. I found the deal at amazon.co.uk. Always shop around on line before buying something like this new.
I had a shoot the other day, which I only found out about the day before so didn’t have time to go to my beauty salon and get my usual tan. I got my mum to spray me with one of St Tropez’s DIY spraytans. It’s called Aerobronze and sprays out in a really fine mist rather than the usual spray or mousse. I stood in the bath tub so I could easily wash it down with the shower after and prevent turning my carpet and walls orange! It was really easy to do and I was amazed with the results! Just as good as a salon result with no patches. Make sure if you use it, you do one body part at a time to avoid missing or overdoing patches. I copied how the girls in the salons do it, so if you get one done in a salon watch what they’re doing so you can copy them next time. For best results do two thin layers. Do your whole body section by section and then start again.
I bought an amazing body scrub from Body Shop .It was half price so only cost about £5. I must go back and stock up! I bought it at the airport tax free making it a bit cheaper than usual. Online it’s £7.50. I always write a list when I go abroad of beauty products I need and get them at the airport to save a bit of money. Back to that scrub, it’s amazing if you use fake tan. It’s great for smoothing your skin before applying fake tan and great for getting the remains of fake tan off before your next application. It’s not like any other exfoliator I’ve used before, It comes in a tub and looks like red/brown sand mixed with dried herbs. Sounds strange but it really works. It actually contains particles of almond, coconut shell, apricot stone, lemongrass and cinnamon bark. Try it, it’s great.

I can’t believe how quickly I’ve lost weight. I’m almost at my ideal size. I got a timetable of classes available at my gym and wrote out my own schedule of the classes I could do and put it on my fridge. I did one to two classes a day (apart from New Year’s Eve because the gym was shut). I also walked my dog every day, which helped. I’ve never done any aerobics classes before and always thought people who do them look completely hilarious, but I really enjoyed them! They were great. I did one called Body Attack. The instructor said if you stick at it you can lose 900 calories per class. It was a great workout and the moves were actually quite fun. I’m going to calm down with the amount of classes I do now - I’ve lost most of the weight, I’m just going to make sure I don’t stop going to the gym and eating so badly like I did over Christmas. I’m going to write a new timetable that I can stick to as well. Don’t let this make you feel guilty for not going to the gym as much as this – it’s part of my job. My neighbour Leanne has just started a new fitness regime. She’s a solicitor so works long hours and doesn’t have time to go to the gym that much. She’s started cycling to work and back and goes to the gym on a Saturday. Doing a bit of exercise in the morning gives you a lift for the day. Exercising releases endorphins, which make you feel happy. Getting fit and feeling happy, what more can you ask for?
I’m sorry it’s been so long since I’ve written but I would have had to just lie if I wrote anything because I have done nothing worth writing about in terms of health, diet and fitness!! The Christmas season got to me and I overdosed on mince pies, chocolates and parties. I’ve put on so much weight! In real life it looks fine but as a model under lights I don’t look good at all! I had December off so I hadn’t realised the weight I’d put on. I’d completely stopped going to the gym and it wasn’t until Christmas Eve that I realised how bad it had got! I was doing my last minute shopping in Selfridges when I got side tracked and ended looking for clothes for myself in the sale. I was in a changing room trying some stuff on and couldn’t believe my reflection. It must have had something to do with the lighting (well that’s what I was telling myself!) but I have never seen me look so Shrek-like. I’ve never suffered from cellulite so I was shocked to see so many lumps and bumps. Aaaaaaaargh! Nightmare! That’s it now, no more wine - gin and slimline tonic from now on. I’m not going to go on a strict diet because I love my food too much. I’m just going to try and eat more healthily, cut down on the naughty things and go to the gym every day. I have a shoot on the 7th January so I’ve not got much time. I don’t normally do many cardio classes at the gym, I usually just do Pilates, yoga or body pump but I’m going to do a cardio class every day now until the 7th. I’ve even cancelled New Year’s Eve this year as I can’t afford to have a two-day hangover!
Is it just me or is anyone else really excited for Christmas? I hope it snows. I’m probably so excited because we keep being deprived of a summer so all we’ve got to look forward to in a seasonal sense is Christmas. I got some Ugg ear muffs for my birthday the other week. I love going on winter walks all wrapped up, feeling festive, stopping at a country pub with a roaring fire and drinking mulled wine! I’m such a granny sometimes! The cold windy air does play havoc with your skin though so make sure you apply a really moisturising body lotion every day, and don’t forget your lip balm. There’s nothing less attractive than crusty lips!
I’ve bought some Kerastase tablets that supposedly help make your hair gorgeous and thicker and at £25 a pack they had better bloody work! I got them from Selfridges but you can get them cheaper online, they’re called Kerastase Nutrients Densitive. You get 60 tablets but have to take two a day for at least three months, which means you need three packs! I’ll let you know if they work. It is true though that the best way to improve the condition of your hair, and skin, is from within. If you find it hard to eat a good diet maybe a supplement like Kerastase Nutrients is for you.
I’m back now and although I’m absolutely knackered and could sleep for a week, I had an absolutely amazing time. The guys were great and seeing their faces all light up when we arrived to take pictures with them and sign photos was great. On top of that I learnt so much about how the army works. It’s pretty amazing actually! I couldn’t believe they actually had a Pizza Hut, Subway and Burger King on camp! The best part (being an animal lover) had to be meeting the army dogs. Did you know they even have a swimming pool for them for when they get too hot in the summer? I could tell you soooo much more but this blog is about health, beauty and fitness and not the army so back to the mascara, miracle pills and Spanx, eh? Talking of Spanx, I thought they were something that just grannies wear, but I’ve recently heard a load of young girls talking about how great they are, including some models. Fancy that! I’m gonna buy myself a pair for those nights that start with a three-course meal in a restaurant, and try and beat the pizza bulge! There was a picture of Kim out of Girls Aloud wearing a pair that come halfway down your thighs. I think I’ll get the thong version to avoid that kind of embarrassment. She actually denied in an interview wearing them and said they were tights she’d cut. Why on earth would you wear tights cut halfway down your thigh?? Us girls should just admit sometimes that we need a little help. We’re all comfortable with wearing make-up to enhance our looks, so why not use underwear in the same way?
I’m off to Afghanistan tomorrow. Everyone I’ve told has said, ‘What you going there for?’ I give them another minute to work it out! I’m hardly going on an 18-30s weekend! I’m going to support our troops and boost morale. I’m really excited but at the same time a little anxious. I’m going with four other Page 3 girls who are all pretty scared, my main concern is what food I’ll be eating! Everyone who knows me knows how obsessive I am with my food, and rations just don’t meet my standards, ha. It’s only for four days so I’m sure I’ll cope but I’ve packed 4 Pot Noodles and some Tabasco sauce, just in case. I love my Tabasco sauce! You’ve gotta have a bit of spice in your life! I’ll let you know how I get on when I’m back.
